David Glaser: Art Music Composers Thinking Visually
Location: Milton Resnick and Pat Passlof Foundation
APNM Composer Hayes Biggs announces the premiere of a new work as part of Rockquiem, a program by C4: The Choral Composer/Conductor Collective. Blending the sacred tradition of the Requiem Mass with the energy of rock, Rockquiem features new settings of the Latin Mass by various composers, each contributing a different movement. Biggs’ contribution is the Offertorium (Domine Jesu Christe)—a bold step into integrating the pop and rock influences of his youth with his contemporary classical sensibilities. This marks Biggs first public work using full rock instrumentation. Rockquiem additionally features music by Jeryl Johnston, Brian Mountford, Evan Shaw Johnson, Zoe Hart & Oli Bomann, Mario Gullo, Bryan Lin, Perry Townsend, and Mirjam Tally. Performances will be held at Shapeshifter Lab in Brooklyn on May 29 and 30 at 8:00 PM. Tickets and more information can be found at www.c4ensemble.org.
